What is a prompt?

A prompt is a question, set of words or instructions directed at your AI bots, designed to generate a user directed response. These prompts can vary widely, from factual questions and statements to any text aimed at encouraging creative or thoughtful outputs. In BizGPT these prompts can be run against ChatGPT bots, or your MyCAT bots.

How are prompts useful?

Prompts can be invaluable for brainstorming different types of writing or content creation. as well as accurately providing factual responses to your queries. Here are some examples:

  • Educational Support: "Explain the difference between photosynthesis and cellular respiration in a way that a year five student could understand."
  • Creative Writing Assistance: "Generate a short story about a lost kitten finding its way home in a magical forest, incorporating elements of friendship and adventure."
  • Professional Tasks: "Write a professional email to a supplier requesting a detailed quotation for office supplies, emphasising the need for a prompt reply."
  • Coding Help: "Provide a Python script that reads a CSV file and calculates the average value of the numbers in the second column."
  • Language Learning: "Create a list of 10 common French phrases useful for tourists, including their English translations."
  • Fitness Advice: "Suggest a beginner-level, 30-minute home workout routine focusing on strength and flexibility, without the need for any equipment."
  • Nutrition Planning: "Draft a vegetarian meal plan for one week, aiming for a balance of protein, carbohydrates, and fats, with recipes included."
  • Entertainment Recommendations: "List five science fiction books released in the last decade that deal with themes of artificial intelligence and human identity."

It is important to note that there is minimal chance the first time you put your AI prompt in, for either your MyCAT bot, or ChatGPT bot, that you'll get exactly the response you're after. You will need to write, test, refine, test, and so on, until you consistently get an outcome you're happy with. Once you have got a prompt that generates the data or response you are seeking, you can save this as a preprompt (click here for more information).
